Deal Imminent: Ex-Liverpool Defender On His Way To Sporting CP
Published: January 29, 2019Portuguese setup Sporting CP are on the verge of announcing the signing of Nigeria-eligible defender Tiago Ilori, according to various reports in Portugal and England.
Ojogo says Reading star Ilori is already in Lisbon to undergo a medical and finalize a permanent switch to Sporting CP.
The central defender moved to Liverpool in September 2013 but first-team opportunities were few and far between after his arrival at Anfield.
Ilori made only three appearances for the Reds in the FA Cup and was farmed out on loan to Granada, Bordeaux and Aston Villa before joining Reading on a permanent basis in 2017.
As part of the original sale agreement, Liverpool will pocket 25 percent of the transfer fee, only if it exceeds the amount the Royals paid for his services.
Ilori is also eligible to represent the senior national teams of Portugal and England.
