Five Players Earn More Than Kalu At Bordeaux, Super Eagles Star Pocketing N414M Per Season
Published: February 08, 2019Nigeria international Samuel Kalu is the sixth highest earning player at French Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.
French sports daily L'Equipe has published its annual salaries of footballers playing in the French topflight and with a take-home pay of 85,000 euros per month (equivalent of N414 million for the season), only five players earn more than the Super Eagle.
Inter Milan loanee Yann Karamoh is the best paid player at Bordeaux, taking home €210,000 monthly followed by Benoît Costil (€125,000) who captains the club and striker Nicolas de Préville at €115,000.
Brazilian defender Pablo at €100,000 and Senegal defender Youssouf Sabaly (€90,000) complete the top five highest paid players at Bordeaux.
The monthly figures are the players' guaranteed compensation and does not take into account bonuses and clauses inserted into their contracts.
With Samuel Kalu inking a five-year deal on August 8, 2018, he stands to pocket approximately N2.04 billion over the duration of his contract (85000*59*406).
