Six Things To Note About Super Eagles Squad To Face Seychelles, Egypt
Published: March 04, 2019The Nigeria Football Federation announced a 23-man roster for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles and international friendly with Egypt on Monday afternoon.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has compiled six observations about the squad :
1) The average age of the squad as at Monday, March 4 is 24years 4 months, with Enyimba's Valentine Ozornwafor the youngest member at 19 while Kaizer Chiefs ' Daniel Akpeyi is the oldest at 32.
2) Rohr has selected players plying their trade in 14 different countries : Cyprus, South Africa, Nigeria, Italy, England, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Israel, Saudi Arabia, China, Belgium, Denmark, France.
Danish-based Paul Onuachu and Enyimba's Ozornwafor have received their first call-ups.
3) Eight players have been included on the final Nigeria roster for the Fifa U20 World Cup : Daniel Akpeyi (2005) Ikechukwu Ezenwa (2007), Odion Ighalo (2009), Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa (2011), Abdullahi Shehu, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon (2013).
4) The most seasoned international in the squad is Ahmed Musa with 80 caps and he'll equal Ikechukwu Uche (19 goals) as Nigeria's fourth highest goal scorer in history if he scores twice in the games.
5) More than half of the players invited, 12, are playing for clubs in the top ten leagues in Europe : Ekong, Balogun, Omeruo, Aina, Awaziem, Shehu, Ndidi, Simon, Iwobi, Osimhen, Onyekure, Kalu.
6) Rotherham United midfielder Semi Ajayi has logged the most minutes (3399) for his club this season followed by Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi (2758).
