Idowu Plays First Game In Four Months As Lokomotiv Moscow Advance To Russian Cup Semifinals
Lokomotiv Moscow advanced to the semifinals of the Russian Cup courtesy of their 1-0 win over Rubin Kazan on Wednesday evening.

Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu played a part in the victory for the Railwaymen, going the distance as a left wing-back.

Bearing it in mind that the Russian Premier League observed a winter break for three months, yesterday's game against Rubin Kazan was Idowu's first competitive appearance for the capital club in four months.

The 26-year-old last played against Porto in the Champions League on November 6, and this contributed to the decision of Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr to omit him from the roster to face Seychelles and Egypt due to a lack of game time.

The handwriting was on the wall that he was no longer the Super Eagles first-choice left back after he failed to start their last three competitive matches.

Lokomotiv Moscow will face Rostov in the last four of the Russian Cup and the games will be held on April 3 and May 15.
