U23 AFCONQ Vs Libya : Rizespor Midfield Powerhouse Okechukwu Called Up By Nigeria
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Rizespor midfielder powerhouse Azubuike Okechukwu is set to add to his international caps at U23 level after receiving a call-up from the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the forthcoming U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.

The 1997-born player was an important member of the Dream Team VI squad that reached the semifinals of the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil and was the captain of the team before the armband was logically handed over to John Obi Mikel by coach Samson Siasia.

A year before his appearance at the Olympic Games, he shone as Nigeria won their first U23 Africa Cup of Nations title by beating Algeria in the showpiece.

Although Okechukwu has played competitively for the Super Eagles, he sees no problems in dropping down to play for the Olympic Eagles again and has given his word that he'll join the team on March 18.

Portuguese-based trio Kelechi John, Tosin Kehinde and Kelechi Nwakali have also received call-ups to join the team for the games against Libya, while 2015 U17 World Cup-winning defender Lukman Zakari is no longer in contention to make his debut after holding talks with coach Imama Amakapabo.

Okechukwu has impressed in the heart of midfield since his return to Turkey in the January transfer window, having contributed to two goals in his last four appearances for Rizespor.
