Published: March 21, 2019
Former Super Eagles defender Ajibade Babalade has urged the Super Eagles attackers to prosecute Friday's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles with the same commitment they showed by their early arrivals to camp in Asaba.
Gernot Rohr will lead his troops out at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba for the dead rubber game and despite being a defender during his playing days, hopes to see an attacking display from the team.
"I guess we just have to score more goals on Friday and make a big statement," Babalade, who was a member of the Super Eagles team to the Senegal ' 92 AFCON, told allnigeriasoccer.com.
"It doesn't matter that qualification to the AFCON is achieved. We have to use it to test run new players, ensure team bonding and as confidence booster to the boys," the onetime Shooting Stars FC player stressed.
The Eagles will also face Egypt in a friendly on Tuesday and Babalade called for the same quality of tune up game before the AFCON.
"Egypt will provide good test for us but we should have at least one more top friendly before the Nations Cup. The signs are encouraging and I wish them well," 'Kunde', as the the then all action defender was affectionately called concluded.
Both games on Friday and Tuesday will kick off 4pm Nigerian time respectively.
