Published: March 29, 2019
One-cap Nigeria U23 international, Kelechi John has said Nigeria stands a better chance ahead of their Sudanese counterparts as both teams strive to undo themselves to qualify for the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations which will serve as the qualifying tournament for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The 20-year-old Kelechi was part of the Dream Team VII side that trounced Libya 4-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Monday to advance 4-2 on aggregate to the next round of the U23 AFCON qualifiers.
Kelechi who spoke with allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in Portugal said Nigeria will advance.
"With the quality of players the manager has at his disposal I don't see any team stopping us right now", he said.
"We have high quality home based players and those of us from Europe, particularly those very experienced ones who are already part of the Super Eagles family, Uzoho, Awaziem, Osimhen and the likes we will break barriers''.
"The managers too, coaches Imama and Boboye are very good. They knew what they wanted and they got it in the game against Libya, I was never in doubt we would advance and we got the job done.
"With the level of understanding among the team now I believe we will do better against Sudan" he concluded.
