U17 AFCON: 1985 World Cup-Winning Captain Names Three Teams Golden Eaglets Should Be Wary Of
Published: April 12, 2019Golden Eaglets assistant coach Nduka Ugbade has named three countries that the national team should be wary of when the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations starts in Tanzania this weekend.
Senegal's U17 team are the favourites on paper to win their first title and Ugbade admitted as much in an interview with the official website of CAF and also revealed that Cameroon and Guinea are among the contenders for the title.
''There won’t be any margin for errors for us in Tanzania because we will have the best teams from all the regions of Africa,'' Ugbade who skippered the Golden Eaglets in 1985 said.
''Apart from Senegal that defeated us in Turkey, we will also have Cameroon and Guinea.
''Our objective first and foremost would be qualification for the World Cup by reaching the semi-finals and, thereafter, we can focus our attention on winning the trophy for the third time for Nigeria.''
