Hammarby Confirm Interest In Golden Eaglets Star Amoo, But Deny He Has Signed Contract
Published: April 23, 2019Swedish Allsvenskan side Hammarby have confirmed their interest in Nigeria U17 international Akinkunmi Amoo but have strongly denied that the attacking midfielder has signed a contract.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported on Saturday that an agreement is already in place for the player to move to Hammarby next summer when he attains the age of majority.
And if that is the case the Swedish club have violated Article 19 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players under the age of 18 and face a transfer ban.
''Well. What should I say? We know very well who the player is, there is no talk about it. But there is nothing written that we cannot write.
''We have nothing to worry about there. Fifa? ... come on,'' says Hammarby chief scout Mikael Hjelm to Fotbollskanalen.
He added : ''He (Amoo) is a great player, an offensive player who has both technique, game perception and wit. He is one of many talented players participating in the Africa U17 Cup of Nations''.
The 16-year-old Amoo is believed to be on the radar of Premier League, Austrian Bundesliga and French Ligue 1 clubs.
