'New Aubameyang' Has Contributed To 22 Goals After Brace Of Assists Vs Palermo
Published: May 01, 2019Dream Team VII winger David Okereke is having a remarkable season and is one of the few Nigerian players to have registered double figures for both goals and assists.
Thanks to his contribution, Spezia have a fighting chance of qualifying for the Italian Serie A playoffs, having accumulated 48 points from 34 matches, which puts them seventh on the table with two rounds left.
Labelled the 'new Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang', Okereke was in his element again on Wednesday, setting up both goals as Spezia and Palermo shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw at Renzo Barbera.
Giulio Maggiore gave The Aquilotti the lead on the half-hour mark after a clever cutback from Okereke and a minute before the break, it became 2-2 when Maggiore headed home a pin-point cross from the Nigeria U23 international.
The Nigerian has given a total of 12 assists to add to his ten goals in the league, more than he has ever managed in a single season.
With no fewer than nine top flight clubs in Italy, Belgium and England reportedly interested in the signature of Okereke in the summer transfer window, Spezia will find it difficult to keep hold of their number 21 at the end of the season.
