Four Interesting Things To Expect From Super Eagles Training Camp In Asaba (2)
Published: May 17, 2019In the concluding part of Things To Expect From Super Eagles AFCON Training Camp In Asaba, Izuchukwu Okosi highlights four interesting things to note.
The Super Eagles scrimmages will be interesting sessions to observe as eagle eyed journalists and fans will be keen to know which players make up the possibles and probables and what other activities go on at the stadium and the team's hotel.
That could also give indication to the likely formation(s) Gernot Rohr adopts in Egypt.
It could also give a sneak preview to the likely 23 that make the final cut.
Fans Turn out for Zimbabwe Friendly
Some of the Super Eagles players have had complaints about the quality of the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba but the Delta State government's support and fans' backing make it an almost impossible not to send off the Eagles from there.
The friendly game against the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe on June 8 is expected to attract a big crowd.
It will be interesting to see how the fans and media react to the performance of the team especially as from the players whose invitations were widely criticized.
Heavy Security To Guard The Super Eagles
The spate of insecurity and criminality in the country is alarming hence provision of water tight security has become key.
Some of the Super Eagles players have had their relatives kidnapped in the past and there is a feeling that there could be an apathy in some respects.
Security will be better than ever before in Asaba when the Eagles come to town especially as some of their relatives will be around.
Nollywood Stars' Presence In Super Eagles Hotel, Trainings
Rude boy (Paul Okoye) of the Psquare fame was at the Eagles' hotel to see one of the foreign born Eagles stars in November 2018 at the team's hotel after the friendly against Uganda. Actress Chinwe Isaac was there too to see a player she is rumoured to be dating.
Many more especially those in the movie industry particularly star comedians have been regular faces at the team's hotel and training sessions as noted when the Eagles played Seychelles and Egypt (and U23 Eagles hosting Libya).
That is expected to be the case early June and that adds to more excitements for adoring fans.
