Villarreal's Chukwueze Looking Up To Mikel, Musa; Reacts To Liverpool Transfer Speculation
Published: June 06, 2019Villarreal new kid on the block, Samuel Chukwueze has revealed that he is drawing inspiration from two experienced Super Eagles players in John Obi Mikel and Ahmed Musa.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winning pair have over 160 caps between them, and Chukwueze says he has been following their careers since 2010.
''When I was young, I used to watch Mikel Obi and Ahmed Musa; 2010 and 2014 World Cup. They always motivate me,'' said Chukwueze at Thursday's press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.
''Now it is a dream come true, they always motivate me to keep working hard so I can reach my potential.''
Chukwueze has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window but he chose to give nothing away when he was questioned about a possible departure from the Yellow Submarine.
''For now, I am still a player of Villarreal because I have a contract with them. Anything you are hearing about new club, I don't want to discuss about it,'' he said.
The 20-year-old Chukwueze is the youngest player in line to travel with the Super Eagles squad for the 2019 AFCON.
