New Manchester United Signing Of Nigerian Descent Must Follow Rashford's Footsteps
Published: June 07, 2019Ajax Amsterdam sensation Dillon Hoogewerf has announced that his summer transfer to Manchester United is in the bag.
The Nigeria-eligible striker is also a proven goalscorer having found the back of the net on 10 occasions for Ajax's Under-17 side last season.
It is too early to suggest that the youngster will be part of Solskjaer's team next season, therefore, Hoogewerf will have to make do with a place in Neil Ryan's U18 team during the 2019-20 campaign.
Joining Manchester United as a highly-rated youngster means Hoogewerf must double his efforts to live up to expectations by progressing through the ranks at Old Trafford. He might need a role model to achieve such feat in no time.
There is no perfect player to imitate his development at Old Trafford than England centre-forward Marcus Rashford who broke into limelight three years ago under Louis Van Gaal's tutelage.
The 18-year-old attacker (as at the time he made his first-team debut for the Red Devils) took advantage of Anthony Martial's injury against FC Midtjylland in a Europa League encounter to introduce himself to many football fans across the world.
He scored two goals in the encounter and he followed it up with another brace against Arsenal few days later.
Hoogewerf must be ready to grab any opportunity that comes his way with both hands, just as Marcus Rashford, because that's the fastest way to succeed at Old Trafford.
He must maintain consistent performances with the U18s or U23s , hoping for an opportunity to introduce himself to the whole world just as Marcus Rashford.
