Confirmed : Former Golden Eaglets Star Released By Leicester City
Published: June 08, 2019Nigeria U17 World Cup-winning midfielder Habib Makanjuola has been released by former Premier League champions Leicester City.
The Premier League have confirmed that nine players on the books of The Foxes, including Makanjuola, have not been retained for the 2019-2020 season.
The 20-year-old is departing the King Power Stadium without making a single competitive appearance for Leicester City teams in the two years he spent at LE2 7FL.
Work permit problems prevented Makanjuola from playing for the club and his circumstances will not change in the new season as he has yet to make his senior debut for the Nigeria National Team.
Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have been retained while promising winger Layton Ndukwu and left-back Calvin Ughelumba have extended their contracts.
The other players of Nigerian descent retained are Joseph Eppiah and Edward Elewa-Ikpakwu.
