Super Eagles Player Ratings Vs Burundi : Ighalo Joker; Omeruo Brilliant; Iwobi & Aina Star; Chukwueze Promising; Mikel Not Convincing; Onuachu Struggles
Published: June 22, 2019Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule on the Super Eagles players following their 1-0 win over Burundi.
Goalkeeper
Daniel Akpeyi: Pulled off some top drawer saves to keep Nigeria in the tough game. (6.5/10)
Kenneth Omeruo: Brilliant defending from the Chelsea man.
Went close with a dipping header too. (8/10)
William Troost-Ekong: Solidly kept out the tricky Amissi and was really superb. (7/10)
Abdullahi Shehu: Kept things simple as long as he lasted on the pitch. Pulled up with an unspecified injury just before halftime. (6/10)
Ola Aina: Was a handful down the left channel as his movements time and again caught out Birgimana. Sleekly slid in Ighalo for the goal. (7.5/10)
Midfielders
Wilfred Ndidi: Was composed but seemed to spend too much time on the ball. (6/10)
Oghenekaro Etebo: Doggedly nullified the opposition threats and stuck to Berahino quite well. (7/10)
Mikel Obi: Did a fair share of the midfield work in the early exchanges but didn't look physically convincing.
Hooked for Musa in the second half. (6/10)
Attackers
Samuel Chukwueze: Lit up the Alexandria Stadium with some silky movements and was eye-catching. (7/10)
Alex Iwobi: Tried some tricky springs and noticeably came alive on the counter. His lethality was well checked by the opposing defenders though. (7/10)
Paul Onuachu: Lacked mobility upfront which stunted his output. Saw little of the ball to work and was left feeding off stray balls into the channels. Came off for Ighalo. (5/10)
The Substitutes
Chidozie Awaziem: Came in for Shehu and gave a good account of himself. (7/10)
Ahmed Musa: Thrown on for Mikel as the team pushed for the breakthrough.
Displayed his trademark runs into the opposition area. (7/10)
Odion Ighalo: Showed his predatory instincts to win the game for his side with a striker finish. (8/10)
