Chelsea-owned striker of Nigerian descent labelled 'good young player' by FGR boss
Published: November 26, 2022
Chelsea-owned player of Nigerian descent Bryan Fiabema has been labeled a 'really good young player' by Forest Green Rovers boss Ian Burchnall ahead of his side's meeting with Alvechurch in the second round of the FA Cup.
The Norway youth international is in contention to figure against the Southern League Premier Division Central club as his international commitments with Norway U20s are over.
Fiabema made his debut for the age group in an U20 Elite League game against Germany on November 19 and three days later he made his starting debut in a friendly against Belgium.
Having missed matches against Oxford United and Cheltenham, the Norwegian-Nigerian is in the frame to make his 12th appearance for Forest Green Rovers.
Providing a squad update, Burchnall told Gloucestershire Live : "Yeah, without a doubt. Bryan (Fiabema) has been away on international duty, he’s back and he’s obviously a really good young player, Connor (Wickham) is scoring goals, and Jamma (Jamille Matt) we’re still having to manage him."
Fiabema will be hoping to make his FA Cup debut against the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition on Saturday afternoon.
The 19-year-old was a non-playing substitute against South Shields in the first round.
