Man Utd not willing to pay N46.4b to bring Super Eagles star to Old Trafford
Published: November 28, 2022
Premier League club Manchester United have taken their foot off the pedal as regards the transfer pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils are in need of a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who was released from his contract last week, but are not willing to meet the €100 million (N46.4 billion in Nigerian currency) price tag.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis had previously revealed that Napoli will only part ways with Osimhen if the attacker's price tag is met by a suitor.
Osimhen has become one of Europe's most sought-after strikers as a result of his scintillating performances with the Naples based outfit since the start of last season.
The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals and assisted three in 14 appearances for the Luciano Spalletti led side this term.
The Lagos-born forward joined Napoli from LOSC Lille for €70 million in 2020 after netting 18 goals during the 2019/2020 season.
The 2015 FIFA U-17 Golden Boot winner has no release clause in his contract with Napoli, and is still contracted to the Serie A League leaders up until the summer of 2025.
