Premier League Cup : Flying Eagles-eligible striker on target for Crystal Palace
Published: November 29, 2022
With three games remaining in Group E of the Premier League Cup, Crystal Palace have a one-point advantage over second-placed Sheffield United.
The Eagles U21s side played out a 2-2 draw with Bristol City at the Robins High Performance Centre on Monday, with several players of Nigerian descent eligible to represent the Flying Eagles in action for the London club.
Manager Paddy McCarthy handed starts to goalkeeper Owen Goodman, fullback Tayo Adaramola, midfielder David Ozoh, strikers David Omilabu and Ademola Ola-Adebomi.
Ola-Adebomi almost scored the opener just past the half-hour mark but saw his placed shot saved by the goalkeeper.
After Seb Palmer-Holden scored to cancel out Killian Phillips' opener, Omilabu restored Palace's one-goal lead in first half stoppage time when he tapped in a cross from Adaramola.
The home team equalised in the 58th minute through Joe Low who headed in a free kick from close range.
Omilabu thought he had netted the winner for Palace but his effort was ruled out for offside.
