'Not impossible' - Agent admits Man Utd-linked Nigeria star could leave Napoli next summer
Published: November 29, 2022
Italian intermediary Andrea D'Amico, who was among the agents that brokered the deal taking Victor Osimhen from Lille to Napoli in 2020, has admitted that the Nigeria international could be leaving the Serie A club next summer.
Manchester United have identified Osimhen as a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo whose contract was terminated after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
The Red Devils bringing in the 2015 U17 World Cup winner to Old Trafford in the January transfer window looks unlikely as Napoli are still competing on three fronts - Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League.
The stumbling block to a potential deal is his asking price, with Napoli valuing him at more than 100 million euros.
D'Amico reckons that Napoli would sanction the sale of Osmhen next summer if they receive an offer too good to turn down.
Speaking on 1 Football Club , Luca Cerchione's program broadcast on 1 Radio Station, via Area Napoli, D'Amico said : "Will the love story between Osimhen and Napoli end in June ? The epilogue of the current candidate will be fundamental.
"Faced with indispensable offers, it is not impossible that Victor can leave, especially if Giuntoli has an important alternative is ready.
"To date, it is still early to know the future of the Nigerian, but the sporting director is very good at replacing apparently irreplaceable players. "
Osimhen will enter the last two years of his contract with Napoli on July 1, 2023.
