Gabriel Jesus injury : Romano insists Arsenal have no plans to recall Balogun at the moment
Published: December 05, 2022
Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has dismissed speculation in the media that Folarin Balogun could be returning to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus suffered an injury during Brazil's 1-0 loss to Cameroon at the ongoing World Cup and additional tests carried out on the 25-year-old on Saturday confirmed that he has been ruled out of the tournament.
There are claims that Arsenal are looking to cut short Balogun's one-season loan deal due to the injury suffered by the Brazilian.
The Hale End Academy product is having an outstanding season at Stade de Reims, scoring eight goals in fifteen appearances while providing two assists.
Romano has made it clear that there is not currently any plan to bring Balogun back to Arsenal next month.
"Gabriel Jesus and those close to him are still waiting for official communication on the injury, we need to wait for details, " Romano was quoted as saying by Caughtoffside.
"At the moment there are no contacts with Reims or with Balogun’s agents to recall him, we will see if it changes but this is not the case now."
Eddie Nketiah has acted as cover for Jesus this season and Gabriel Martinell can also play as center forward if the need arises.
