A disciplined France side are through to the final of the 2022 World Cup after beating Africans Morocco in a semifinal clash at the Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor on Wednesday night.
The defending champions managed to keep a clean sheet despite a new center back pairing of Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate,
Morocco went toe to toe with some of the biggest teams in the world before the meeting with France, beating Belgium and Portugal, but fell short against the two-time world champions.
Theo Hernandez gave Les Bleus a dream start as he acrobatically fired home after a deflection fell to him at the far post in the fifth minute.
In what his first touch of the game, Randal Kolo Muani tapped in from close range after the ball was deflected into his path in the 79h minute - the third-quickest goal for a substitute in World Cup history.
Liverpool star Konate stamped his authority on the game, making the most interceptions and most clearances.
The performance of the French-born defender of Malian descent did not go unnoticed by Nigerian fans who took to Twitter to show their appreciation.
