Huddersfield to hold talks with Chelsea over injury suffered by Anglo-Nigerian midfielder
Published: December 16, 2022
Championship club Huddersfield Town are set to hold talks with Chelsea over the injury suffered by Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin.
Having recovered from a bout of Glandular fever, Anjorin was included in Huddersfield Town's training camp squad and featured in a friendly against Olympiakos.
The England youth international of Nigerian descent hurt his ankle in training on the eve of the Terriers' Championship match with Sheffield United, leading to his omission from the matchday squad.
He has successfully undergone surgery on the ankle injury he sustained and is out for the foreseeable future.
Anjorin has missed twelve consecutive games played by the Terriers in the Championship and has yet to play a competitive match under Mark Fotheringham.
Speaking at Friday's press conference, Huddersfield Town manager Fotheringham said : "Unfortunately Tino Anjorin had an injury in the build-up training session last Friday. We were planning on starting him and he's suffered a quite a really bad ankle injury. We're devastated for him because he'd worked so hard to come back.
"We'll assess it now with Chelsea and Leigh Bromby will have conversations with Chelsea about what we're going to do, but first and foremost we're just concerned for Tino's welfare because I know he'll be really low.
"He's been and had surgery and Leigh will have dialogue with Chelsea, but he's a player we think the world of and I know he's a real fan's favourite too. We'll support him as much as we can."
In January 2022, Anjorin was recovering from injury when his loan spell at Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow was cut short
The 21-year-old completed the 2021-2022 season at Huddersfield Town.
