Why Super Eagles midfielder Onyeka missed Brentford's 2-2 draw against Tottenham

Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka could not help Brentford in their first competitive match after the World Cup break, a 2-2 draw against Antonio Conte's Tottenham Hostpur at the Gtech Community Stadium on Boxing Day.

 

Onyeka was not utilized in Brentford's mid-season friendlies with Bordeaux, Celta Vigo and Wolfsburg this month as part of their preparations for the resumption of the Premier League. 

 

The central midfielder was left of the matchday squad against Tottenham Hotspur because of injury, it has come to light. 

 

 

According to Jay Harris, Brentford reporter for The Athletic UK, manager Thomas Frank could not count on the services of Onyeka due to a hamstring injury. 

 

The Nigerian faces a race against the clock to be fit for The Bees upcoming game against West Ham United on December 30. 

 

Brentford coach made one change to the side that beat Manchester City before the World Cup break as Christian Norgaard came in for the recuperating Onyeka. 

 

In the current season, the former FC Midtjylland man has played fourteen games in all competitions, including six starts.
