Super Eagles-eligible duo send messages to Cody Gakpo after transfer to Liverpool
Published: December 29, 2022Liverpool have pulled off a massive transfer coup by reaching an agreement for the transfer of Netherlands' World Cup star Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, subject to a work permit.
Gakpo will officially become a Liverpool player when the transfer window reopens for business on January 1, 2023.
It was earlier thought that the Dutch-born forward of Togolese descent was heading to Manchester United in the winter transfer market but Liverpool snatched him from under the nose of the Red Devils.
Super Eagles-eligible duo Nonso Madueke and Joshua Zirkzee have sent messages to their pal Gakpo following his transfer to Liverpool.
England U21 international Madueke was teammates with Gakpo at PSV for four and half years, while Zirkzee and the new Liverpool number 18 previously played together in Netherlands U21 national team.
Confirming Gakpo's move to Anfield, Liverpool posted on Instagram : "A late Christmas present for you, Reds".
Reacting to Liverpool's post, Madueke expressed his happiness by using a smiling face with heart-shaped eyes emoji.
Zirkzee added : "Congrats bro !!!".
