Birmingham City open contract talks with Nigerian defender who idolises Virgil van Dijk
Published: December 31, 2022
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Championship club Birmingham City have opened contract talks with promising Nigerian central defender Chris Ogor.
The Blues are eager to extend his stay at the St. Andrew's Stadium after his impressive performances for the club's U18 and U21 teams.
Considered one of the brightest talents in the Birmingham City academy, Ogor has been invited to train with the first team on multiple occasions this season, which is a testament to how highly he's regarded by the coaching staff.
Birmingham City are hopeful the Nigerian will sign his first professional contract with the club at the end of negotiations.
The 17-year-old offers versatility as he is capable of playing as a left-back, left wing-back and left-sided central defender, and he has cited Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk as his role model.
Ogor modeling his game after the Netherlands World Cup does not really come as a surprise considering that he was a schoolboy at Liverpool for five years before switching to Birmingham City in 2021.
Standing at 6ft 1in, Ogor is quick, strong, has good passing ability, fairly decent in terms of technicality and aggressive in his play.
