Official : Brentford announce signing of Schade and confirm he's eligible for Super Eagles
Published: January 04, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Brentford have confirmed that they have completed the signing of SC Freiburg forward Kevin Schade, subject to international clearance.
The Germany U21 international has joined the Bees on loan for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.
Brentford expect to make the deal permanent for a club-record undisclosed fee in the summer, with Schade set to sign a five-year contract.
Brentford and other Premier League clubs were interested in Schade last summer but Freiburg were able to persuade him to stay.
The Gtech Community Stadium outfit confirmed that Schade has a German mother and Nigerian father, and is eligible to represent both Germany and Nigeria in international competition.
The 21-year-old has totaled sixteen appearances for Germany's youth teams including five for the U21s, and became provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth when he came off the bench against Andorra in a European U19 Championship qualifier in October 2019.
Schade, who has been allocated the number 9 jersey, links up with Nigeria international midfielder Frank Onyeka at Brentford.
