Brentford confirmed team news: Schade in matchday squad but Super Eagles star still out
Published: January 07, 2023Brentford's new signing Kevin Schade is in contention to make his competitive debut for the Bees in Saturday evening's Emirates FA Cup third round clash against West Ham United at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Germany youth international of Nigerian descent joined Brentford on loan this week with the club expected to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, with the striker set to sign a five-year contract.
Manager of Brentford, Thomas Frank confirmed at the pre-match press conference that the SC Freiburg loanee will be named in the matchday squad to face the Hammers.
On what Schade will bring to the side, Frank said to Brentford's official website : "He’s a very promising young talent – the perfect Brentford player.
"He’s a player with very big potential. A good character. We like his pace and his ability to go in behind. I like his goalscoring potential.
"He can play across the front three; left, right, striker. He wants to arrive in the right areas."
Meanwhile, Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka will not be involved against the Hammers as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury, Brentford have officially informed.
Onyeka last appeared for Brentford during their 2-1 win against Manchester City on November 12, 2022.
