15yo Anglo-Nigerian starlet battles Martinelli, Nketiah, 5 others for Arsenal Goal of the Month
Published: January 09, 2023
Talented Anglo-Nigerian attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri is in the running for Arsenal's Goal of the Month award for December 2022.
The 15-year-old's strike in a 6-0 rout of Millwall in the FA Youth Cup on December 19 made the shortlist.
Twenty six minutes into the contest, the England U17 international of Nigerian descent doubled the advantage with a powerful effort in off the post.
Nwaneri's finish goes up against goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah, Vivianne Miedema, Michal Rosiak. Stina Blackstenius, Ben Cottrell and Frida Maanum.
This is the second consecutive month Nwaneri has been nominated for the monthly accolade.
He made the shortlist for November 2022 but missed out on the award to Vivianne Miedema, who claimed the gong for her brilliant header against Juventus in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Nwaneri was not called up for Arsenal's ongoing Emirates FA Cup third round match against Oxford United.
