Transfer guru confirms N17b-rated Super Eagles-eligible winger is interesting Chelsea
Published: January 11, 2023Chelsea's interest in signing Super Eagles-eligible winger Nonso Madueke in the January transfer window appears to be concrete, with Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Blues 'appreciate' the PSV Eindhoven star.
Writing in his Daily Briefing for Caughtoffside, Romano has suggested that Liverpool's recent capture of Cody Gakpo could complicate things.
In principle, no player will be allowed to leave the Eindhoven-based club in January and if Chelsea continue to push to sign the Anglo-Nigerian, they will have to pay over the odds to land his signature.
The England U21 international was valued at 35 million euros (approximately N17 billion in Nigerian currency) last summer.
Last season, Madueke was heavily courted by Premier League clubs but PSV fended off the transfer interest in the player by offering him a new contract that ties him to the club until the summer of 2025.
The Tottenham Hotspur academy product is only 20 years old which makes it more interesting as Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking at bolstering the squad with the outstanding young players in the world.
Madueke, who is predominantly a winger, can also lead the line as a center forward, and has directly participated in 34 goals (20 goals, 14 assists) in 79 appearances since making his senior debut for PSV.
