KV Oostende on brink of deal for Karlsruher's Benin City-born winger Arase
Published: January 18, 2023According to matching press reports in the German and Austrian media, Belgian Pro League side KV Oostende are closing in on the signing of Super Eagles-eligible winger Kelvin Arase.
Regional newspaper based in Karlsruhe, Badischen Neuesten Nachrichten reported on Wednesday that Arase said goodbye to his teammates before his trip to Belgium to formalize his transfer to KV Oostende.
On Wednesday morning. the former Austria U21 international was involved in Karlsruher SC's first team training at Estepona, a town in Spain where the German 2. Bundesliga club are preparing for the second half of the season.
Arase joined Karlsruher SC on a free transfer last summer but things have not really worked out for him there, so a move makes sense.
The 24-year-old has made only three starts from a possible nineteen in all competitions and provided three assists in 364 minutes of action.
Arase is set to link up with former Nigeria U23 invitee and Glasgow Celtic-owned central defender Osaze Urhoghide at KV Oostende.
Born in Benin City, he spent the formative years of his career at Rapid Vienna, rising through the ranks before making his first team debut against SV Mattersburg in September 2016.
