Chukwuemeka trains with Chelsea's new N49b signing for the first time
Published: January 19, 2023
Anglo-Nigerian midfield talent, Carney Chukwuemeka on Wednesday joined new recruit, Mykhailo Mudryk in Chelsea training ahead of Saturday's lunch time Premier League clash against Liverpool.
The highly-rated Ukraine international completed his move to the Blues at the weekend for a fee of £88m (approximately N49 billion in Nigerian currency) and trained for the first time with his new teammates at Cobham Training Center.
Chukwuemeka only on Sunday started his first game in the Premier League for the Blues in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and might be thrust into the starting lineup again should injuries to more players strike again.
It remains to be seen if the return of first team players who were previously on the treatment table would prevent Chukwuemeka from making further first team appearances in the Premier League.
Not less than seven key Chelsea players are out or recuperating from injuries but the team has been boosted by the arrival of Mudryk.
For Chelsea's new number 15, Mudryk, he was a subject of interest from Arsenal but their offer for the Ukrainian was bettered by the Blues who presented a counter offer for the forward.
Chukwuemeka and co welcomed the new face at the Chelsea training ground on Wednesday with the player of Nigerian descent pictured training with the balls while the players were put through their paces.
Mudryk, 22, had scored 10 goals in eighteen appearances for Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in the first half of the season.
