Chelsea crashed out of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night after a shock 1-0 loss to Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium.
Tudor Mendel-Idown started for the Blues, fullback Somto Boniface entered the game as a substitute before the start of the second half and the third Young Blue given minutes was Louis Flower who played the last five minutes.
Former West Ham schoolboy Brandon Njoku started for Cambridge United and was in action for 85 minutes.
The lively Mendel-Idowu had a chance to break the deadlock in the opening minutes of the contest but was denied by a fine save from goalkeeper Finch,
The only goal of the gane came in the 32nd minute as Jaydyn Lott rose highest and powered home a header against the crossbar and into the net.
Mendel-Idowu came close again as his header from inside the six-yard box was saved by Finch.
In the 65th minute, the Blues were close to leveling the scores but Mendel-Idowu and Castledine got in each other's way after Boniface sent in an inviting cross.
Cambridge United will face Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
