'Very good' - On-loan Gunner Arthur Okonkwo impressed with quality in Sturm Graz squad
Published: January 27, 2023One and a half weeks after cutting short his loan spell at Crewe Alexandra and moving to Austria to complete the season, Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo says he is impressed with the quality in the Sturm Graz squad and intensity of the training sessions.
Shortly after his capture by Sturm Graz, Okonkwo traveled with the squad to Turkey for a training camp ahead of the start of the spring season of the Bundesliga.
The Hale End Academy graduate has thanked his new teammates for helping him quickly settle into his new surroundings.
"It was really good. The team took me in well, everyone was very welcoming. They helped me to get comfortable very quickly and training is really intense," Okonkwo said to SK Sturm TV.
"Now I am trying to adjust with the team, with the training, and the different sort of sessions as well. "
Having featured in friendly matches with FK TSC Bačka Topola, Wisła Płock and Vaduz during the training camp in Turkey, Okonkwo believes the Sturm Graz players are up to standard.
"The quality is very good, the players are very good in training, very good in the games and the intensity is so high compared to what I've been used to last six months so like I said I'm trying to adjust and get to rhythm with them."
Okonkwo could make his competitive debut next Friday when Sturm Graz battle Salzburg in the Austrian Cup.
