Official : Nigerian winger joins Portuguese Primeira Liga club FC Arouca
Published: January 29, 2023Portuguese Primeira Liga club FC Arouca have bolstered their squad with the signing of Nigerian winger Yusuf Lawal.
The financial terms and length of the deal have not been disclosed by the 2009-2010 Segunda Divisão champions.
Yusuf has moved to Arouca from Azerbaijani setup Neftçi PFK, where he spent the last two and a half years of his career.
A product of 36 Lion, he turned out for KSC Lokeren for three years before moving to Neftchi Baku in the summer of 2020.
He totaled 88 appearances for Neftçi PFK, including games in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League, Premyer Liqa and Azerbaycan Kuboku.
Yusuf scored six goals and registered nineteen assists for Neftçi PFK and was in action for 7,209 minutes.
Speaking after his transfer to Arouca was confirmed, Yusuf said : "I chose FC Arouca because it's a beautiful club, with a very close connection with the fans.
"I want to help the team to achieve the best ranking possible. I will do my best and fight with the team."
FC Arouca are sixth in the Portuguese topflight with 26 points from seventeen matches played.
