Official : Iwobi gets new manager at Everton ahead of Arsenal visit
Published: January 30, 2023
Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi has a new manager at Everton, with the Toffees confirming the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Men’s Senior Team Manager on Monday.
Everton had been looking for a new coach after sacking legendary Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard following a poor run of results, and have gone for Dyche after failing to convince Marcelo Bielsa to take up the role.
The 51-year-old Dyche is making a return to coaching nine months after he was fired by Burnley, and has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal with Everton until June 2025.
Under dismissed coach Lampard, Iwobi appeared in 40 matches, scoring two goals and providing nine assists.
Dyche will be in the Everton dugout for the first time when they take on Premier League table toppers Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday, February 4.
The English football tactician knows some of the Everton players including James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Dwight McNeil, having worked with the trio at Burnley.
Everton have won only three of their twenty Premier League games this season and are nineteenth in the standings.
