Chelsea recall talented striker of Nigerian descent from loan spell
Published: January 31, 2023
English Premier League club Chelsea have recalled talented striker of Nigerian descent Bryan Fiabema from his loan spell at League One's basement outfit Forest Green Rovers.
Fifa's regulations on the status and transfer of players state that a player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs during one season, and as an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club.
Chelsea insider Chelsea Youth has tweeted that Fiabema's loan at Forest Green Rovers is ending early and there is a possibility of the Norway youth international linking up with another club for the remainder of the season.
Fiabema was at Rosenborg at the start of this season but was recalled from his loan spell in Norway before joining Forest Green Rovers in a deal that was supposed to keep him at the club until this summer.
The 19-year-old being recalled by parent club Chelsea is not a surprising move as he has fallen down the pecking order of strikers at Forest Green Rovers, having failed to make the matchday squad in their last five league games.
Fiabema has one goal and two assists across fourteen appearances for Forest Green Rovers and was in action for 631 minutes.
The Norwegian-Nigerian joined Chelsea in February 2020 from Tromso IL in Norway following a successful trial.
