'Tricky and exciting player' of Nigerian descent signs new deal with Chelsea
Published: February 04, 2023Anglo-Nigerian winger Tyrique George has taken to social media to announce that he has signed a new contract with Premier League giants Chelsea.
On his 17th birthday, today February 4, George has been rewarded with his first professional contract at Chelsea.
George has been described by Chelsea's official website as 'a tricky and exciting player' who joined the club at U8 level after coming through their development centre programme.
Although he plays for England youth team, he keeps abreast of current developments in the Nigeria national team by following the Super Eagles on social media.
George was a member of the Young Lions squad that won the Val de Marne Tournament in the 2021-2022 season.
He made his debut for Chelsea U18s while still a schoolboy and has totaled 13 appearances for the age group in the league alone, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
George made his UEFA Youth League debut against AC Milan on October 5, 2022, and featured again off the bench in Chelsea's final group game against Dinamo Zagreb.
