Raheem Sterling injury : Madueke's chances of making full Chelsea debut increase
Published: February 10, 2023
Chelsea new boy, Noni Madueke took part in Chelsea's squad training on Friday ahead of their English Premier League meeting with West Ham United.
Madueke came off the bench in the Blues' last league game against Fulham and made quite an impression in his cameo as he created two goal-scoring chances for his teammates and picked up the ball deep in midfield.
Chelsea's camera were on ground at the training ground on Friday to capture the players as they prepared to visit David Moyes' fellow London side, West Ham United.
Madueke who arrived west London from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of 35 million euros was seen contesting for the ball with recuperating midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Chelsea also welcomed back Atletico Madrid forward, Joao Felix, who is back for selection after his three-match suspension.
Chelsea remain without a number of first team players in attacking positions due to injuries .
Both Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja are not in contention for the visit to the London Stadium, while Raheem Sterling is rated as doubtful.
Manager Graham Potter in his press conference on Friday confirmed that the England international sustained a knee injury which all adds to the possibility of Madueke making his way to the starting lineup.
Potter had this to say about his injured players and of particular mention about Raheem Sterling whose position on the wing Madueke could slot into on Saturday :
"They are getting closer and closer. Wesley has been training with the team, Denis has been training with the team.
"We've had a little setback with Raheem, he is doubtful. He got a kick in training at the side of his knee. Mateo is training with the team but it'll be too soon for him."
The West Ham versus Chelsea game kicks off 1. 30pm Nigerian time on Saturday at the London stadium.
