Super Eagles-eligible player makes full Chelsea debut in 1-1 draw v West Ham United
Published: February 11, 2023Nigeria-eligible winger Noni Madueke made his full debut for Chelsea on Saturday at the London Stadium against West Ham United.
The game ended 1-1 with Chelsea's hope of an European football once again derailed.
The England Under-21 international came off the bench in the Blues' previous game against Fulham in which he created two goal-scoring chances.
Joao Felix, back after his three-match suspension, scored his first Chelsea goal in the 16th minute after an earlier goal was canceled due to offside in the buildup.
British transfer record signing, Enzo Fernandez provided the assist for the opener.
Kai Havertz saw his goal moments later chalked off as the VAR ruled out the effort of the German who was offside.
Former Chelsea left back, Emerson equalised for the Hammers in the 28th minute.
Chelsea almost went ahead in the 57th minute when Reece James' free kick was headed out by Michail Antonio who almost conceded an own goal.
Madueke was one of three players taken off in the 67th minute by Graham Potter for his first substitutions of the game.
There was a late VAR check for a possible penalty but the decision went against Graham Potter and his team.
Carney Chukwuemeka, who is also able to play for Nigeria through his parents, did not come off the substitute bench in the game.
