'It shows the ability' - Crystal Palace U21 coach on Ozoh becoming club's youngest-ever PL player

Crystal Palace U21 manager Paddy McCarthy has given his assessment on Valencia-born Nigerian midfielder David Ozoh.

Ozoh became Crystal Palace's youngest-ever player in Premier League history after coming on for Odsonne Edouard in a goalless draw against Newcastle United on January 21.

Aged 17 years and 260 days, Ozoh broke the club record previously held by another Nigerian player George Ndah who made his Premier League debut for Palace at 17 years, 11 months and 5 days.

McCarthy is delighted with the progress made by the Nigerian teenager and hopes he can become a first team player in future.

Speaking to Crystal Palace's official website, McCarthy said : "It’s also been great for [David Ozoh], who had a taste of things over there [with the first-team], which is great for him as a second-year scholar to make his debut and become the youngest ever Premier League player for Crystal Palace.

"It shows the ability of the young man and he’s ahead of schedule - he’s playing in every game in the team, he’s performing in every game that he’s been available for and we’ll continue to develop him in our team and get him across the road."

Ozoh was an unused substitute in four first team games before making his professional debut against the Magpies.
