Opinion : Why Arsenal, Newcastle United best suit Super Eagles stars Chukwueze, Moffi

Super Eagles duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Terem Moffi had been linked with some English Premier League clubs in previous transfer windows but transfers never materialized.

The Nigerian internationals continued to justify why their crafts deserve to be on higher levels after scoring and registering assists for their top five European League clubs in the last two days.

The Premier League is however arguably the best league albeit the Spanish La Liga and German Bundesliga have a lot to say about that.

Based on the transfer links associated with the in-form Nigerian stars, All Nigeria Soccer attempts at answering the question of where these players would best be suited in the Premier League.

Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal)

Samuel Chukwueze could be much sought-after alternative for Bukayo Saka at Arsenal.

The Gunners hierarchy understood that Gabriel Martinelli needs a challenger for his position on the wide left l and one that could also be adept at playing a false 9 role.

The club went for Leandro Trossard from Brighton and he has proven to be a quality addition to the team chasing a top-of - the- table finish since 2004 and therefore a place at the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League.

Saka needs some protection from the officials as he has become the target of opposition defenders but he also needs to be protected from burnouts from playing a lot of games.

What more, Super Eagles star, Chukwueze who has scored three La Liga goals in 22 matches has similar style of game to Saka's. Both forwards are left footed and have speed in abundance on the wings.

As shown by Chukwueze on Monday night against Getafe, in which he scored one goal an assisted another in a 2-1 win, he is capable of playing on both sides of the wings.

Saka who plays from the right side of attack and cuts in infield, himself can also be a left-sided winger. As well as a left back and an attacking minded midfield player.

Interestingly they both have Nigerian connections and Chukwueze, a product of the Diamond Academy, Umuahia will not find it difficult to integrate into the system with the Hale End graduate around to guide him.

Terem Moffi (OGC Nice)

Nigeria international Terem Moffi scored two goals for Ligue 1 side, Nice and had an assist against AS Monaco on Sunday in a 3-0 win.

Moffi was genuinely attracting interest from West Ham United in the Janaury transfer window but eventually moved to OGC Nice on loan.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, they are currently at the lower rung of the Premier League table looking up.

Newcastle United is now an emerging force in English football with the acquisition of the club by a Saudi Arabian group.

The Carabao Cup finalists, in the coming years, could be competing for the big titles in England and a stint with the Toons will not be out of place.

With the current form of the Nigerian who scored 12 League goals for former club Lorient this term before heading to OGC Nice, he would be one of the first names on the Newcastle United team sheet should he decide to move to St. James' Park.
