'He never lost the ball' - Fiabema reveals Jorginho was Chelsea's best player in training
Published: March 02, 2023Norway youth international of Nigerian descent Bryan Fiabema has named Jorginho as Chelsea's standout player in training before his switch to Arsenal in the January transfer window.
After five years at Chelsea, with whom he won the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, the Brazilian-born Italy international midfielder switched to the Gunners last month, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract with option of a further year.
The UEFA Men's Player of the Year for the 2020-2021 season scored 29 goals in 213 all-competition appearances for the Blues before leaving Stamford Bridge.
Fiabema is now back at Chelsea after he was recalled from his loan spell at Forest Green Rovers in the winter transfer market, and was on loan at Rosenborg in Norway for five months last year.
The Norwegian-Nigerian center forward was promoted to first team training, especially during the international break, before heading to Rosenborg and thinks he can make his first team debut for Chelsea.
Asked to name the best player on the training pitch, Fiabema said to Norwegian TV Channel, Discovery, via Eurosport : "Jorginho, when he was there.
"He never lost the ball! Reece James was also a beast and had a real kick. Everyone there maintained an absolutely insane level."
On the chances of making his debut for Chelsea's first team, he responded : "Yes! If I didn't think so, there would be no point in being a footballer.
"The dream is to play in the Premier League with Chelsea. Is it realistic? People have different opinions, but of course I think it's realistic."
The future of Fiabema at Chelsea is up in the air, given that he has approximately four months left on his contract.
The 20-year-old has not played competitively for Chelsea's youth teams since February 2022.
