RUSG's Victor Boniface reveals one thing Gent scoring sensation Orban can learn from him
Published: March 18, 2023New kid on the block Gift Orban has stolen the limelight from all the Nigerian players on the books of Belgian clubs following the explosive start to his career at KAA Gent.
Most eyes were on Royale Union Saint-Gilloise striker Victor Boniface for the title of breakout Nigerian star in Belgium but he has been usurped by Orban who transferred to Gent hours before the close of the January transfer window.
Orban, 20, has mustered twelve goals in nine matches across all competitions since his move to Gent, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Zulte Waregem and Basaksehir FK, setting two records along the way.
Boniface has been in spectacular form too, with an impressive goal involvement of 27 (19 goals, 8 assists) in 42 matches this season.
The former FK Bodø/Glimt star is delighted with the form of his pal Orban and believes the Gent number 20 can improve his dribbling skills by watching him.
In the Europa League on Thursday, Boniface showcased his dribbling abilities as he bewitched the Union Berlin defence with his footwork before picking out Amani, who fired home with a brilliant strike to double the advantage.
On Orban, Boniface told regional newspaper Het Belang van Limburg : "I know him, we are friends. I am very happy for him. I did tell him to calm down a bit, because it's getting a bit much now. But no, of course I'm very happy.
"His great quality is that he knows how to score goals, which is important for a striker.
"But he can also learn from me, you know. For example, the way I dribble."
Only Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford (6) has scored more goals than Boniface (5) in this season's Europa League.
