'Maybe in the future it will happen' - Chukwueze responds to Arsenal and Aston Villa links
Published: March 25, 2023Nigeria national teamer Samuel Chukwueze has reacted to speculation linking him with possible moves to Premier League duo Arsenal and Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Statistically, the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup winner is having his best season as a professional, with eleven goals and eleven assists in thirty eight outings across all competitions.
There are sensational reports suggesting that Chukwueze is being targeted by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to provide competition for Bukayo Saka.
The Super Eagles winger continues to be linked with a move to Aston Villa in what would be a reunion between him and his former coach Unai Emery if the move materializes.
Reacting to reports linking him with Arsenal and Aston Villa, Chukwueze told Elegbete TV Sports : "For now I am a Villarreal player and my focus this season is to do well and put them in a good position for Champions League and Europa League spots, for me to have a good name before I leave the club.
"For now I am just focused on Villarreal. Any rumour that you're listening to now, maybe in the future it will happen but for now I am a Villarreal player. "
When pressed to reveal his dream destination, Chukwueze pledged his loyalty to the Yellow Submarine.
"I don't have any power to choose any club I want. The only club I have to choose is Villarreal, they are one of the best clubs in Europe. They won the Europa League two years ago."
Arsenal could have been Chukwueze's first professional club but his proposed move to the Emirates Stadium in 2017 collapsed despite passing a medical examination.
The 23-year-old will enter the last year of his contract with Villarreal on July 1, 2023.
