PL2 : On-loan Gunner Butler-Oyedeji in attendance at Old Trafford as Man Utd, Arsenal draw
Published: April 01, 2023On-loan Gunner Nathan Butler-Oyedeji watched his parent club Arsenal take on Manchester United in a Premier League 2 game on Friday evening.
The winger would have been in contention to feature against the Red Devils at the iconic Old Trafford Stadium but was loaned out to League One strugglers Accrington Stanley for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window.
Arguably the Gunners development squad's standout player in the first half of the campaign, Butler-Oyedeji's spell at Accrington Stanley hasn't really worked out considering that he has made only two starts from a possible thirteen since his arrival at the Wham Stadium.
Butler-Oyedeji was at Old Trafford to offer his support to his Arsenal teammates including Nigerian center-back Zach Awe, who went the distance against Manchester United.
Arsenal were rewarded for their fantastic start in the 20th minute when Khayon Edwards caught the goalkeeper on the ball and tapped it into an empty net.
But it took United four minutes to equalize as Mateo Mejia volleyed in his first goal at Premier League 2 level.
The lively Charles Sagoe Jr could have won it for the Gunners early in the second half but his shot from inside the box hit the post.
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Joel Ideho was omitted from Arsenal's matchday squad for the second Premier League 2 game on the bounce.
