'I'm full of confidence' - Madueke hopes to replicate England form with Chelsea
Published: April 01, 2023Chelsea winger Noni Madueke expressed his delight upon returning from international duty with England U21s and is ready to help Chelsea finish the season strongly.
Madueke has had a difficult start to life as a Chelsea player but he didn't allow that to affect his performance for the national team.
Exactly a week ago, he scored a goal and bagged two assists in England's U21s 4-0 win over France and won the man-of-the-match award despite coming on as a second-half substitute.
He would go on to start against Croatia, where they lost 2-1 and was in action for 62 minutes for Lee Carsley's side.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Madueke said : " The international break is good but it's best to be back at Cobham preparing for what we are trying to do in the last part of the season.
"It's always good to be with the national team, I enjoyed myself, got a couple of assists and a goal so I'm full of confidence coming back to Chelsea now to hopefully replicate that type of form.
"It's always nice as a winger, attacker or forward to contribute to goals and obviously in essence that's what we're meant to do and paid to do so it's great to have that sort of impact, and I just hope that I can do it for Chelsea and contribute to wins in the near future."
Maduke has found minutes hard to come by under Graham Potter since moving from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window.
He made his debut as a substitute against Fulham on February 3 and then went on to start Chelsea's league games against West Ham and Southampton.
Madueke has played 6 minutes of football since then and has been an unused substitute in games against Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Everton.
Chelsea have 11 games left this season in the Premier League, are into the quarterfinals of the Champions League and Madueke will be hoping Graham Potter gives him the chance to impress between now and the end of the season.
"There's a lot of games, eleven games this month, so a lot of football to be played, a lot of things to decide still, so bring it on.
"We're still fighting on two fronts. We want to do as well as we can in the league and obviously Champions League is a competition that we can go far.
"It's a great time to be a Chelsea player, " The Blues number 31 concluded.
