Pundit claims Man Utd are ahead of Chelsea in race for N76b-rated Super Eagles star
Published: April 05, 2023TEAMTalk pundit Ben Jacobs has suggested that Manchester United are in the driving seat to sign Nigeria international Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs credited with an interest in the Napoli number 9, who is valued at 150 million euros (approximately N76b in Nigerian currency) by the Serie A table toppers.
Napoli may be forced into cashing in on Osimhen when the transfer market reopens given that he has approximately two years left on his contract with the club - provided the asking price for the attacker is met.
The main goal United have in the summer transfer window is to bolster the squad with the signing of a physical number 9 and two of the their top targets are Totenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane and Osimhen
Although Osimhen's quality is not in doubt, his price tag is astronomical and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will break their transfer record to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
The Red Devils' record arrival is Paul Pogba's move from Juventus in 2016 for a then world record fee of 105 million euros.
Per the report, Osimhen always had one eye on Manchester United and he considered joining them before moving to Napoli but was not convinced he would get playing time.
The 24-year-old has been with Napoli for three seasons, making 91 appearances and scoring 53 goals while providing fourteen assists.
