KV Oostende appeal thrown out : Celtic loanee Urhoghide only eligible for last game of season

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide is definitely out of KV Oostende's next two games in the Belgian Pro League, the club confirmed on Wednesday morning.

The central defender  was shown a straight red card for making a late challenge on Philip Zinckernagel in the 60th minute of KV Oostende's 3-1 loss to Standard Liege at the weekend.

The public prosecutor's office of the Belgian Football Union (URBSFA) on Monday proposed that Urhoghide should be banned for two matches and one suspended.

KV Oostende appealed against the two-game suspension but the Disciplinary Committee for Professional Football. upheld the decision of the Belgian Football Union.

This means the Glasgow Celtic loanee will be forced to sit out upcoming games against Sint-Truiden (April 9) and OH Leuven (April 15).

Urhoghide is eligible to be fielded in KV Oostende's final game of the season against Gift Orban's Gent on April 23, and it could be his last game for the club as his loan deal runs out at the end of this campaign.

The 22-year-old missed the trip to KV Mechelen on January 14 because he was serving a one-game ban after he was dismissed on matchday nineteen versus RFC Seraing.

Urhoghide has started twenty three of the 31 games played by KV Oostende in the Pro League this term and was subbed on three times.
