Victor Moses admits he's sad to see Chelsea 11th in PL, looking forward to Man City v Arsenal

Chelsea old boy Victor Moses has expressed sadness over Chelsea's league position.

The Blues' poor domestic form led to the sack of manager Graham Potter this week, and the straw that broke the camel's back was the 2-0 loss to Aston Villa last weekend.

With nine matches left to the end of the 2022-2023 Premier League season, Chelsea, who are now led by their iconic midfielder Frank Lampard on a caretaker basis, sit eleventh in the standings with 39 points accumulated, thirty three less than table toppers Arsenal.

It means the Stamford Bridge outfit have no mathematical chance of winning the Premier League for the first time in six years.

Given the points difference between them and fourth-placed Manchester United, Chelsea are in danger of missing out on the Champions League except they manage to win the competition this term.

Moses was a key member of the last Chelsea team to won the Premier League in 2016-2017, playing 34 matches under Antonio Conte and impressed following his conversion to a right wingback.

Asked if it's sad to look at the Premier League table and see Chelsea tenth (eleventh), Moses told Spartak Moscow's official website :"Certainly. But that's football. Now the club must draw conclusions and rebuild for the new season.

"Although the current one can still be saved, because there are matches with Real Madrid in the Champions League ahead."

Arsenal and Manchester City are battling for the Premier League title, and one key game that could determine where the title ends up takes place at the Etihad Stadium on April 26 when both rivals clash.

"As for the Premier League, I look forward to the outcome between Arsenal and City with great interest.

"They have yet to play each other in Manchester, plus the Londoners have matches with Liverpool and Chelsea, so nothing is clear yet," added Moses.

The Crystal Palace academy product claims he won't watch any other team being crowned champions of England other than Chelsea.

"In this sense, it makes no difference to me who exactly will be the first. I want the Chelsea players to lift the trophy over their heads. And it's sad when it doesn't.

"The moment any other team's award ceremony starts, I'll just turn off the TV."

Moses totaled 220 appearances in the Premier League for five different clubs namely Wigan Athletic, Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United, before a permanent transfer to Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2021.
