Chukwueze's worldie against Real Madrid nominated for La Liga Goal of the Week
Published: April 12, 2023Samuel Chukwueze is in the running for the Spanish La Liga goal of the week for matchday 28 with his brilliant second goal in Villarreal's 3-2 win over Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening.
Chukwueze cut to his left and fired a curling shot to the top left corner in the 80th minute to give Villarreal the victory over Los Blancos.
He was also responsible for scoring Villarreal's first goal when he made a mess of Real Madrid's defender Nacho before his effort beat Thibaut Courtois to restore parity for the Yellow Submarine in the 39th minute.
The Super Eagles winger's goal will contend with Marcos Acuna's brilliant strike for Sevilla in their 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, Fran Garcia's long-range effort for Rayo Vallecano in the 2-1 loss to Atlético de Madrid and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli's brilliant goal against Elche for Osasuna
Chukwueze, who became the first Villarreal player to register a brace against Real Madrid since Diego Forlan, has been in brilliant form for Villarreal this season.
He has 6 goals in the league, the most he has scored in a single La Liga campaign and has registered 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for Quique Setien's men.
